Red/Brown Spots

Red and Brown spots are pigmented lesions combine to create a blotchy, uneven skin tone known as sun spots. Sun spots (also called age spots or liver spots) appear over time in response to overexposure to sunlight. Our body naturally produces melanin to protect itself from UV rays, resulting in a tan. As we age, our body’s ability to defend itself against from the sun’s damage begins to deteriorate, resulting in unwanted pigmented spots on the skin.

As many as seventy-million Americans have undesirable redness and/or sun-damaged skin. Sun exposure, alcohol, medication, stress, and aging often worsen the appearance of red blotchy skin.
