BodyFX treats the three things that bother people about a body area at the same time: the layer of fat, the dimpling of cellulite, and the looseness of the skin over it. A handpiece draws the tissue in with gentle vacuum, delivers radiofrequency heat deep into the fat layer, and finishes with a brief high-voltage pulse that disrupts fat cells. The skin is heated along the way, which tightens it.
What it treats
- Abdomen and flanks after weight change or pregnancy
- Inner and outer thighs, including cellulite
- Upper arms and the area above the knees
- Loose skin where fat reduction alone would leave laxity
Where it fits
If your main concern is a bulge, Coolsculpting or SculpSure may remove more fat per session. If the concern is texture and looseness, or a mix of all three, BodyFX is usually the better tool, and it is often used after fat reduction to tighten the skin that remains. Your consultation covers the whole plan.
What to expect
Each area takes about 20 to 30 minutes. You feel deep warmth and a tapping sensation from the pulses. There is no downtime; mild redness fades within hours. A typical series is six to eight weekly sessions, with results that build over three months.
Frequently asked questions
How is BodyFX different from Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting freezes a pinchable bulge of fat in one long session. BodyFX heats fat and skin together over a series of short sessions, so it also smooths cellulite and tightens skin. Many patients do both.
Does it hurt?
No. It feels like a deep heating massage with an occasional snap. We keep the skin temperature in a controlled range throughout.
How many sessions will I need?
Six to eight, about a week apart. Results continue to improve for a few months after the last session.
Is there downtime?
None. Mild redness and warmth for a few hours.
Who performs the treatment?
Our laser nurse Kathy, who has more than twenty years of laser and energy-device experience, under Dr. Darvish's supervision.
