CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Fractional CO2 resurfacing is the treatment we reach for when the goal is a real change in texture: deep lines around the mouth and eyes, acne scarring, years of sun damage, or skin that has lost its tone and smoothness. The laser removes microscopic columns of damaged skin and triggers a strong collagen response in the tissue around them. The result builds over months, and a single treatment can do what a series of lighter treatments cannot.

What it treats

  • Deep wrinkles and etched lines, especially around the mouth and eyes
  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Sun damage, uneven pigment and rough texture
  • Loose, crepey skin on the face, neck and chest

What to expect

Before. A consultation with Dr. Darvish to confirm CO2 is the right tool for your skin and your schedule. Some skin tones and concerns are better served by Fractora or fractional skin tightening, and he will say so.

During. Topical numbing, and for deeper settings a local block. The treatment itself takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area.

After. This is the one treatment on our laser menu with real downtime. Expect redness, swelling and peeling for about a week, with pinkness that fades over the following weeks. We send you home with a specific aftercare plan and check in on you.

Why a physician matters here

CO2 is powerful, and settings have to match the skin in front of the laser. Dr. Darvish, certified by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, personally plans and performs every CO2 treatment, and our laser nurse Kathy has more than twenty years of laser experience. Safe and effective treatment is something we stand behind.

Frequently asked questions

How many treatments will I need?

Often one. Deep scarring sometimes benefits from a second session several months later. Dr. Darvish sets expectations at your consultation.

How much downtime is there?

Plan on about a week of visible healing, with redness and peeling, then a few weeks of fading pinkness. Most patients schedule it before a quiet stretch.

Is it painful?

Numbing cream and, for deeper treatments, local anesthetic keep it comfortable. Afterward the skin feels like a sunburn for a few days.

Is CO2 safe for darker skin?

It requires more caution. For many deeper skin tones we recommend Fractora or other non-ablative options instead. Your consultation covers this honestly.

When will I see results?

Texture improves as soon as the skin heals. Collagen remodeling continues for three to six months, so the final result keeps improving.
